In December 2000, the company finalised a five-year contract with Shin-Etsu of Japan for supply of pre-forms. Shinetsu is amongst the three major players that manufacture preforms/ cladding/ core, the other being Corning (USA) and Heraeus (Germany). However, Shin-Etsu is the only player selling the preforms in the open market As of now, in India, only Sterlite manufactures its own preforms. Aksh presently makes optical fibre by outsourcing preforms.The company also has long-term contracts for Nylon-12 with EMS, Switzerland and for Aramid yarn with DuPont, USA.

We believe that AKSH margin over raw materials is at least 26% higher than the key competitiors. AKSH has created captive vendors. Examples are- Preston(India) for Patch-chords and Pigtails(OFA), Manifold Industrial Tools Pvt. Ltd., for Joint Boxes/Termination Boxes and Fibre Distribution Frames.
